Course objectives
K1: The aim of the course is to help students achieve A1 level knowledge of Czech by improving all language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking). The lessons will be practical. We will also deal with life and institutions in the Czech Republic. K2: The aim of the course is to help students achieve B1 level knowledge of Czech by improving all language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking). The lessons will be practical. We will also deal with life and institutions in the Czech Republic.
Learning outcomes
By the end of Course 1, the students will be able to communicate in Czech at a minimum level of A1. They will be able to read and write simple short texts in Czech, understand common topics of dialogue, and be able to formulate and apply the basic rules of Czech grammar. By the end of Course 2, the students will be able to communicate in Czech at a minimum level B1. They will be able to read and write intermediate texts in Czech, understand more complex topics of conversation, and be able to formulate and apply both elementary and intermediate Czech grammar.

  • Practical teaching: grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking at A1 level. Conversational topics: What is your name? Who is it? Shopping. Time and agenda of the day. What are you doing? Orientation - Where? Work and leisure time. Family. My city. Food and drink. Traveling.

Teacher's information
The course focuses on gaining and improving knowledge of Czech as a second/foreign language. The course will be divided into two seminar groups. One group is for beginners (equals A0 level). Instruction in this group will be given in English. The second group is for students with basic to intermediate knowledge of Czech (equals A2 level). Instruction in this group will be given in Czech. This course is free of chargé.
