Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with intervention procedures that are suitable to choose during work with people with visual impairment. Furthermore, the aim is to present the needs of pupils and students with visual impairment in the educational process through simulations and to create a prerequisite for the appropriate choice of intervention procedures by future teachers. Another goal is to teach students to work with pupils with visual impairment in their natural environment, to simulate situations in which pupils with various types of reduced visual functions and visual impairment learn knowledge and special skills such as self-care, spatial orientation and independent movement. The simulations will be performed in  interior and exterior simulator - SIMU. The foundation of this course is experiential learning for students.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- understand the different types and degrees of visual impairment and their impact on a person's everyday life
- understand the recommendations for self-care and independent movement based on diagnosis and vision limitation
- know counselling services and their detailed specification for the period of education of a pupil with visual impairment
- know counselling services and their detailed specification for adolescence and adulthood
- be able to use Braille in  practice
