- Course objectives
- The main objective of the course is a detailled information about pedagogy of visually impaired. At the end of the course, students should understand and use data about: Categories of people with visual impairment, occurrence and causes, children with multiple handicap, deaf-blind children, peculiarities of psychical process by visually impaired, system of schools for visually impaired, counselling, special educational centres, technical aids, visual stimulation, mobility, quality of life in visually impaired.
- Syllabus
- Okruhy: 1. Paradigm of pedagogy of visually impaired. History and development of support of visually impaired in the Czech republic and abroad.
- 2. Impact of visual impairment on personality of an individual (reception, thinking, attention, behavior, speech). Psychomotor development of a severly visually impaired child.
- 3. Anatomy of an eye.
- 4. Physiology of vision. Development of vision.
- 5. Visual impairments, etiology. Examining of vision and visual functions.
- 6. Early intervention - theoretical background, forms and service. Centres of early intervention for visually impaired children and their families.
- 7. A child with visual impairment in a preschool age. (preschool support and care, children with low vision and problems with binocular vision).
- 8. A child with visual impairment in a school age. Education of pupils with visual impairment.
- 9. Educational system of pupils with visual impairment in the Czech republic. Teaching Braille.
- 10. Compensatory aids for people with visual impairment. Use of PC and special aids, use in the educational process.
- 11. Communication of blind people and people with low vision. Teaching and learning Braille. Approach to information.
- 12. Integration/ Inklusion. Current trends in care and education of visually impaired in the Czech republic and abroad.
- 13. Intervention and counselling - Tyfloservis o.p.s., Tyflocentrum o.p.s., SONS, Centre of social care, Centre of rehabilitation and retraining in Prag-Dědina.

- 15. A child with multiple impairment. Communication and education of deaf-blind people.
- 16. Organisations of / for visually impaired in the Czech republic and abroad.

- 18. Possibilities of development of key competencies by pupils and students with visuall impairment.
