Student is supposed to have passed successfully the foundational course in phonetics and phonology in the first year of study or needs to practise concrete pronunciation items that have proved to be unsatisfactory.Preferably,the students have taken AJPV_VYSA in the autumn semester.However,it is not recommended that students take AJPV_VYSA or AJPV_ VYSB before taking phonetics seminars in the first year of study. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- The course offers further practice of selected pronunciation problems,such as stress,rhythm and intonation using advanced authentic spoken texts which are analysed and practised in various forms (BBC news,Streaming Speech CD-ROM etc.)
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course, students will be able to: - identify the most common intonation patterns used in English - demonstrate a range of intonation patterns in a given context - pronounce a selection of high-frequency lexical items - justify their choice of a particular intonation pattern - produce a more fluent speech act
