- Course objectives
- The aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of Russian historical transformations, focusing on the development of morphological and syntactic system. The attention will also be paid to the comparative aspects of Russian and Czech languages.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course student will be able to describe important changes in the development of Russian language; to interpret the history of Russian grammar; to analyze phenomena and structures of contemporary Russian in diachronic perspective; to apply acquired knowledge when comparing the grammar of Russian and Czech languages.
- Syllabus
- 1. Pronouns in Old Russian language. Development of numerals. Etymology of numerals.
- 2. Verbs. Present, past and future tenses in Old Russian language. Category of tense and category of aspect.
- 3. Imperative and conditional.
- 4. Participles and transgressive.
- 5. Unchangeable parts of speech.
- 6. Historical syntax.
