- Course objectives
- Objective of the course in terms of learning outcomes and competences The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the problems of alternative and augmentative communication, the target group of users and the characteristics of communication systems used in our and foreign practice, including the issue of selecting a suitable communication system. Outputs expected: the student has an overview of the possibilities of using AAC systems and their classification, systems used in our practice; knows the principles of communication through AAK systems, facilitation techniques; Focuses on the areas that need to be evaluated when selecting an appropriate communication system.
- Learning outcomes
- The student has an overview of the possibilities of using AAC systems and their classification; knows the AAC systems used in our practice; has an overview of the principles of communication through AAC systems, facilitation techniques; Has practical experience with specific possibilities of using AAK systems; can handle a case study on this topic.
- Syllabus
- Specification of AAC, division and classification of systems. Characteristics and target group of users. Communication passport and its composition. Characteristics and use of systems - pictograms, communication diary and table. Characteristics and use of the system - Speech in speech. Characteristics and use of VOKS/PECS systems. Characteristics and use of systems - social and global reading. Technical aids and software used in alternative and augmentative communication. Case studies - examples of application of AAK systems to children and pupils. Case studies - Demonstration of AAC systems in adults. The issue of selecting a suitable communication system. Facility Techniques - Communication with AAK user. Use of simulation tools to develop students' competencies in speech therapy intervention in children, pupils with impaired communication ability. Concept of AAC tools - communication diaries and tables. Presentation of aids, discussion.
