- Course objectives
- Through selected topics, the seminar covers the most important works and personalities of the earliest Czech literature. The main stages (from the 9th to the 18the century) will be characterised, as well as their genre and style specificity. Deeper insights into the literary events will be offered through a detailed analysis and interpretation of artistic texts. Students will learn about the basic secondary literature which will enable them to complete and extend the gained knowledge. They will develop their literary-hisorical knowledge and interpetational skills in order to communicate with a literary work more effectively.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to identify, analyze and interpret basic literary works and genres of the earliest Czech literature.

- Teaching methods
- Students will get an insight into basic literary trends and movements in Czech literature in the period concerned, as well as into its genre specifics. They will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more efficiently. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.

- Credit requirements: active participation in seminars (80% attendance), satisfactory seminar paper, oral examination.
