- Course objectives
- After completing this course the student will be able to:
know the requirements for chemical composition of medical supplies;
know the physical requirements of medical supplies;
use the basic types of medical supplies;
explain the advantages and disadvantages of the use of health impact of materials and their impact on human health; - Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students should know and be able to:
- Understand the relationships between living tissues and the specifics of materials of different chemical composition
- to orientate in the current trends and trends of material engineering development in connection with healthcare needs
- know and demonstrate the basic properties of selected basic materials of medical devices used in medicine - Syllabus
- Medical materials of historical and contemporary importance:
- prosthetic materials (prosthetic legs, hands)
- Materials used for dental fillings
- Modern medical materials:
- Titanium and its alloys
- Surgical steel and other steels
- materials for the production of bone substitutes
