Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to. - Explain the concept of technology. - Define materials used in technology. - Clarify the technology of selected components. - Describe the production technologies of selected machines. - Conduct inquiry-based investigations that help develop cognitive skills.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should know and be able to:
- Basic Principles of the Thematic Area of Technology
- Identify Principles of Technical Applications
- Describe simple applications and relation to the subject matter.
- Perform simple simulation examples.

  • 1. Metals. Iron, steel and cast iron. Color metals and alloys. Plating and galvanization. 2. Organic polymers, plastics. Rubber and gutta percha. Graphene a graphene oxide. Silicone and silicon based polymers. Composite materials. 3. Glass, structure, classification and applications. Enamels and refractory materials. Chalcogenide glasses, memories. 4. Ceramics, classification and applications. Porcelain, stoneware and faience. Technical ceramics. Non traditional kinds of ceramic materials. 5. Rocks and earths, natural and artificial stone. Slags and fly ashes. Asbestos. 6. Building materials. Lime, plaster and cement. Concrete, reinforced, slag and aerated concrete. 7. Wood, paper and cellulose. Celluloid. Chipboard and plasterboard. 8. Biomaterials. Bone, collagen, keratin, chitin and chitosan. Treatment and modification. 9. Bitumen and asphalt. Solvents. Glues and adhesives. Colors and pigments. 10.
