- Course objectives
- Students will:
- get acquainted with principles, methods and techniques of teaching English as a foreign language to different age groups and levels;
- study principles, methods and techniques of one-to-one teaching of a foreign language;
- use their Student-teacher Portfolios to reflect on their professional development. - Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to:
- use methods and techniques of teaching English to different age groups and levels in their teaching practice;
- prepare one-to-one lessons for different age groups and levels;
- defend usage of the methods referring to theoretical sources;
- use their teaching portfolios to reflect on their professional development. - Syllabus
- The importance of positive atmosphere in lessons. Rapport. Constructive and supportive feedback. Teaching English to very young learners. Approaches and principles in teaching English to very young learners. Young learners and their age and individual specifics. How children learn languages. Teaching adult courses: age specifics, motivation. Teaching adult courses: affective factors, setting goals, life-long learning. Materials for adults. Assessment in adult courses. Teaching one to one. The role of the teacher. Teaching one to one. Needs analysis. Course design.

- For students on Erasmus:

- present the complete Portfolio to the teacher at the end of the semester (face-to-face or online)
