- Course objectives
- The course provides an introduction to various functional approaches to syntax. The focus of the course is the analysis of language as a communicative tool. Special attention will be paid to the analysis of the information structure of language, especially the Brno approach to functional sentence perspective. During the course students are expected to study linguistic theory and to analyze written and spoken texts.

- Assessment methods (in Czech)
- Test in the basics of functional syntax; analysis of a piece of text from the viewpoint of one of the functional approaches introduced during the course.
