- Course objectives (in Czech)
- The course is designed to introduce students to the early developments of Canadian writing, ie. to its period from the beginnings to the twentieth century. The aim is to trace the most important characteristics of the Canadian national aesthetics that are later transformed and reflected in some examples of contemporary Canadian literature, which is gaining increasing international recognition. Among the authors discussed belong: Susanna Moodie, Thomas Chandler Haliburton, John Richardson, Frances Brooke, Stephen Leacock, Sinclair Ross, Anne Hebert and others.
