Course objectives

Reading and analysis of selected poems from Horace; the main metric forms of monodic lyrics and iambic verse.

• Básně budou čteny v tomto pořadí: Carmina: I, 1-3, 8-11, 14, 22, 24, 37; II, 3, 7, 10, 14; III, 1-3, 8, 9, 13, 30; IV, 3, 5, 7; Epist. I, 2, 10; Sat. I, 1, 9.

Assessment methods (in Czech)

Výuka bude probíhat formou semináře, vyžaduje se aktivně účast všech posluchačů. Pro úspěšné absolvování je zapotřebí odevzdat vlastní překlad a metrický a literární rozbor dvou vybraných ód, v rozsahu 4-6 stran.
