Course objectives
Note: Students who have taken the course AJ12056 may not take this course. The seminar combines the practice of translation with theoretical linguistic analysis based on the compari-son of an English text with its Czech translation. Each week students will translate a passage of text (fiction only: K. Amis, E. Waugh, J. Kerouac, J.D. Salinger, J. Joyce). Their transla-tions will then be analyzed and compared with published translations of the text. The text analysis will be made against the theoretical linguistic background.
