Course objectives
The intensive study of the theory and history of comparative literature prepares the students for application of new knowledge in their own researche work. The works of Russian and another authorities in this field could form research habits of the graduant students.
Syllabus
  • 1. The position of comparative literature within the framework of literary criticism
  • 2. Basic concepts of comparative literature and their application in research work
  • 3. The development of comparative research in the literary and cultural sphere
  • 4. The constitution of comparative literature as an independent discipline of literary criticism
  • 5. Problems of the development of comparative literature
  • 6. The main representatives of comparative literature
  • 7. The importance of comparative literature in the sphere of genology (Genre Studies)
  • 8. Comparative studies of literary and art styles and schools
  • 9. Comparative research in the sphere of poetics
  • 10. Problems of interdisciplinary comparative investigation
  • 11. Problems of ekphfrasis
  • 12. The use of comparatistic approach in student’s own research work
