Course objectives
The aim of a language course Croatian is the expansion of vocabulary, understanding the reading text, practicing verbal and prepositional rection,Croatian punctuation, synonyms, antonyms, deminutives, augmentatives, names of nationalities, declension and conjugation, comparative analysis of Czech and Croatian phrases and idioms. The students each week should write an essay on the topic that is given. At the end of this course students are able to conversate on topics of adequate comlexity, interpret phrazeologisms, recognise the stylistic value of a text or speech, understands spoken language without difficulty.
Syllabus
  • Text analysis of the newspaper articles from Croatian newspapers and magazines (columns, criticism), tales and poems of modern Croatian authors. Practicing of deminutives, augmentatives, singularia tantum nouns, using commas, conditional, aorist, imperfect, relativ pronouns, numerals, numeral nouns, gradation of adjectives, alternations ije/je/e/i, writing č, ć, dž, đ, small and capital letters.

Teaching methods
Seminar (two hours per week), home preparation, several essays, several translations from Czech to Croatian, within the class a combination of teacher-led activities and student-centered/group learning activities will be employed.
Assessment methods
The course is completed by credit. The conditions are active participation in seminars (80% of attendance), translation, all the essays and successfull written test.
