Course objectives
Students should have a B2 (Common European Framework of Reference) level of German language competence. They can understand the main ideas of relatively complex text on both concrete and academic/professional topics, including discussions in their field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of academic/professional subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

  • Addiction (alcohol, drugs, games, internet);
  • Aesthetics (in arts and in everyday life);
  • Philosophy (in relation to contemporary problems);
  • Criminality of children and teenagers;
  • Runes – Old Germanic writting;
  • Literature, writers, books, magazines;

Teaching methods
Presentations prepared by students, discussions in class, reading assignments, grammar excercices.
Assessment methods
Credit course. The aim of the course is to master the vocabulary from all texts covered in the seminar. This is practised both in written and spoken form. Another important aspect of the course is a presentation on a topic from the student's field of study. As it is a credit course, a test must be written at the end of the semester.
