Course objectives
At the end of the course students will be able to define periods of history of Commedia dell’Arte and its influences on European theatre culture from the 16th century up today (Italian Commedia dell’Arte, its French branch, inspiring influence in the period of modernism and avant-garde, and contemporary conceptions of acting with the mask). The changes of Commedia dell’Arte, of acting with the mask and of concepts of a drama character in the mention periods will be stressed out. Students will have opportunity to learn about specific forms of acting that were influenced by Commedia dell’Arte through the video-records of European and Czech performances (Antonio Fava, Giorgio Strehler, Divadlo na provázku, Hubert Krejčí).
