- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to:
reliably recognize the morphological forms and to generate them;
convert clauses from active to passive voice and vice versa;
use synonymic grammatical devices for some phenomena;
translate easy sentences into Czech and Latin and easy Latin texts into Czech;
summarize similarities between selected desinences across declensions and conjugations studied within the course. - Syllabus
- Repetition of basic knowledge of Czech grammar (grammatical categories, parts of speech, sentence structures, types of clauses, etc.). Practice of clause analysis.
- Latin grammatical terminology.
- Morphology: nouns of 1st-5th decl.; adjectives 1st-3rd decl.; formation of adverbs; comparison of adjectives and adverbs; declination and function of pronouns and pronominal adjectives; numerals; verbs of 1st-4th conjugation including deponent verbs, irregular verb esse.
- Syntax: accusative with infinitive construction, selected types of subordinated clauses (final, conditional and relative clauses, cum historicum).

- Awarding of the credit is based on the active participation in the class, handing in of homework (2 to 3 pieces) throughout the semester and completion of the final written test. Class participation is required, only 3 absences are accepted.
