- Course objectives
- The course informs students on history of Ukrainian terminology, principles of formation of terms, current state and problems of Ukrainian terminology. Students will be able to analyse terminological dictionaries and create own translation terminological glossaries.
- Syllabus
- 1. Basic terminological definitions (term, terminology, nomenclature, tec.);
- 2. A short survey of history of Ukrainian terminology; 3. Current state and problems of Ukrainian special terminology;
- 4. Methods of formation of terms in Ukrainian in comparison with the Czech language;
- 5. Loanwords and adaptation of foreign language terms and related difficulties;
- 6. Lexical-semantic relations I (synonymy, antonymy, polysemy);
- 7. Lexical-semantic relations II (homonymy, paronymy, hyperonymy, hyponymy);
- 8. Position and function of terms in the professional language;
- 9. History, current state and specifics of individual terminological systems (automn 2011 - Ukrainian linguistic, sports terminonology, terminology of registry documents);
- 10. Translation of terms;
- 11. Issue of formation of terminological dictionaries.
