Course objectives

The aim of the course is to provide students with information on and possible ways of understanding of teoretical desription of Estonian grammar. At the end of the course student should be able to connect this understanding with his/her practical knowledge of Estonian and use it effectively in understanding language in use.

• problems of orthography
• phonotactics
• morphophonological alternations
• ways of describing morphology
• introduction to syntax
• development of Estonian literary language
