- Course objectives
- Students should be able to describe and characterize the basic types and editions of sources, the most important Czech and foreign works (studies) and journals addicted to early modern history; define and explain the general terms and problems of early modern period; summarize the basic knowledge of the legal, administrative, economy and social history, as well as the results of the historical climatology, geography and demography; explain the early modern conception of time and space, as well as its variations among different social strata; compare the situation in Czech lands and Europe. Students are also continuously prepared in the field of early modern paleography.

- Methodology, Czech and foreign historiography.
- Types and editions of sources.
- The early modern period (aspects, processes, chronology).
- Time and space; territorial development of Czech lands.
- Early modern man. Demography of Europe and Czech lands.
- European society - social stratification.
- Early modern legal system.
- Administration – central authorities, lands, counties, local authorities (landlords, towns, villages).
- Economy.
- Piety.
- Continuous reading and interpretation of an original (czech written) document, as well as analysis of edited early modern texts.
