- Course objectives
- The course aims at providing students with a critical-philological approach to ancient text. Sometimes we will work on unpublished texts or first-hand material (manuscripts or early prints).

- Topics:
- Reading of moral treatises and vernacular translations of the 14th and 15th Centuries. Aspects of the historical development of the language and historical grammar. Aspects of Italian philology. Fundaments of manuscript studies.

- Teaching methods
- Lecture: description of the literary field, explanation and definition of basic notions and their demonstration on concrete texts by concrete authors. Seminar: Application of the acquired theoretical knowledge on authentic texts. In the form of a presentation the students show their capability to connect their theoretical knowledge while working with a concrete text.
