Prerequisites
The course deals with topics in the scientific disciplines related to artificial life and broad artistic creation, which builds on this discipline. Approaching the area probing technology and ideological precedents that preceded the emergence of AL. Start from information aesthetics, which brings the idea of ​​a computer as a tool of creative assumptions and exploring the possibilities of evolutionary simulations of biological phenomena in artificial environments.

Course objectives
Students will be able to formulate their own critical view of the phenomena related to artificial life research, and AL art and determine its status and importance in the wider cultural and social context.

  • 1.Introduction to the issues and context. Definitions, critics utopias 2.AL as science vs. Artificial Life Art. 3. Hardware-Software-wetware. Effects of organicism and genocentrism. Effects of mechancism. Linking natural forms and systematization. The avant-garde. Teaching methods
lectures, home reading+ text elaboration with following discussion , individual consultations, creating the project
Assessment methods
Termination conditions: During the semester students develop: 1) After each lecture students regularly upload text/elaboration based on the text that will be inserted into interactive materials after each lesson. Text form of consideration, criticism, analysis of topics that the student demonstrates an understanding of the issues (not just "paper"). Text should include: a) What is the main idea of the text b) consideration of what is for the student interesting or useful c) References on other texts, authors (searching the context). After each lesson students hand the text into IS. Students will discuss about their text atfollowing lesson. 2nd) The compulsory part of the optional elements: developing their own project: The concept of a particular show, with all the attributes of ALA (venue, annotation, concept, target audience, the potential audience for motivation, etc ...) Originality and creativity is appreciated - it is appropriate to supplement the work of their own visual presentation, graphic design or samples works: ppt. presentation prezi.com, youtube / vimeo video, create Internet project as blog, printed brochures / catalog or booklet in pdf format). Deadline for submission of the project will be announced, and will be open at IS with deadline. Students will send links to web presence, videos, students directly to the teacher´s e-mail. Works received after that date will not be accepted, which is considered as unsuccessful completion of the subject.
