Course objectives
The course will be focused on the explanation of the concept of comparative literature and its function in Czech literary criticism. Theoretical instruments will be used for particular literary works. Selection and analysis of chosen works will reflect the topical discussion of methodology in Czech literary criticism, regarding the relation between two basic patterns for literature of new period – nationally philological pattern and comparative pattern. The attention will be paid to contacts between Czech literature of National Revival period and literary production written in German.

  • Překladatelská metoda v době národního obrození – na vybraných příkladech z francouzské, německé a anglické literatury. Umění překladu J. Levého a jeho přínos bádání o funkci překladu v dějinách literatury. Pozice srovnávací literární vědy v pojetí vybraných literárních vědců (rozbor odborných statí R. Wellka, P. Zimy, R. Jakobsona, J. Mukařovského, D. Ďurišina, V. Svatoně ad.).
