- Course objectives
- In this course students are introduced in a number of essentials about the Netherlands, covering various fields: geography, politics, media, culture, etc. Every class focusses on a certain topic, the starting point mostly being a recent event in Dutch society that is studied in depth and put into historical perspective. Main objective of this course is that students not only acquire basic knowledge about the Netherlands, but also that they are able to formulate their point of view in current discussions. As the emphasis is on current events, students are encouraged to consult Dutch newspapers and other media.

- A combination of lecture and seminar (two hours per week); within the class a combination of teacher-led activities and student-centered learning activities (presentations, discussions about current topics,...) will be employed.

- lessons take place every week - lecture and a seminar - written credit test at the end of the term + oral presentations during the term
