- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to: understand the basic features of Eastern Slavonic folklore; learn the theory of migration, the historical school, comparative studies learn the history of research into folklore and the main science schools (mythological, historical, theory of migration, comparative studies); learn the history of collection of folklore; learn the main folklore genres; learn the specific issues of Russian, Ukrainian and Belorussian folklore; (using the audiovisual technique in the course)

- The main representatives of Eastern Slavonic folklore studies
- The theories of creation of folklore, the history of research into folklore and the main science schools
- The main folklore genres

- Historical songs, their differences from the genre of byliny
- Folktales; genres, characteristics, collectors, individua reading of Eastern Slavonic folktales
