- Course objectives
- Lectures are oriented to the visual art in Europe from its beginnings to the first decades of the 16th century. The main objectives of the course are the following: acquainting students with the basic terms and categories of history of art, as well as with methodology of work of the art historian. An essay has to be written, interpreting a selected oeuvre or set of works.

- Subject and methods of history of art.
- Basic terminology: architecture, sculpture, painting.
- Canon of beauty and aesthetic geometry.
- Iconoclasm and iconoduly, religion and art.
- Periodization of art and its interpretation on selected examples.
