- Course objectives
- This seminar focuses on translation into a second language, more specifically on the translation of non-literary texts from Czech into English. At the end of the course students should be aware of the pitfalls of translation into a non-mother tongue and be able to find ways of dealing with them.
- Syllabus
- The seminar will focus on the theory and practice of translation into a second language, the latter especially on texts from the following fields: official documents as well as scientific texts and the particular translation problems encountered in certain specialized areas such as social development issues (e.g. minorities, human rights, environmental issues, climate change, economy, medicine, etc.

- Seminar attendance is mandatory, translation assignments are to be submitted on time and should be of suitable quality. In order to finish the course with an exam (zk), a final translation assignment, as well as a written test must be successfully completed.
