- Course objectives
- This seminar will discuss the “technologisation” of experience through the work of various writers, artists, architects, photographers, film makers, philosophers and theorists, including William Gibson, Stelarc, Alan Sondheim, Slavoj Žižek, Nam June Paik, Donna Haraway, Ridley Scott… examining both contemporary manifestations and historical antecedents, from Jeremy Bentham’s “Panopticon” and Charles Babbage’s “Analytic Engine,” via the time-motion studies of the Gilbreths, to the birth of the modern computer, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
