Course objectives
- basical knowledge of classical and modern methods of archaeometry - ability of decision, which method or sequence of methods should be applied in a certain case - knowledge which institute to do the anlysis at - ability of critical evaluation of the obtained results
Syllabus
  • Applications of all tought methods in archaeology are shown on published papers. Non-destructive approaches are emphasized. - sample preparation - silicate chemical analysis - X-ray fluorescence spectral analys (XRF) - scannin electron microscopy and microanalysis: SE/BSE/EDS/WDS - optical microscopy - X-ray diffractometry (XRD) - Raman spektroscopy - infrared spectroscopy - computed tomography (CT) - thermal analysis (DSC/DTA/TG) - excursion to a specialized workplace
