- Course objectives
- The course consists of a three-day adaptation and motivation stay intended for incoming students at Department of Library and Information studies. The aim of the course is to help students in their adaptation to university and faculty environment. Thanks to various activities and through pedagogy of experience forms, they have an opportunity to gain basic information on academic life, its demands, possibilities etc. The main aims of the motivation part of the course is then to provide information on the study subject, to enable mutual sharing of expectations among students and teachers, to support a positive social climate at the department and to provide a reflection of students individual study motivations and their grounding in context of actual practical situation. On the first day of the course, students will be offered techniques focused on mutual introducing, icebreakers, warm ups, dynamics, techniques strengthening group cohesion and techniques using drama artefiletics, a methodological reflection of the gained experience and information will be enhanced. The second day will be devoted to discussion activities with a methodological feedback, to techniques of active imagination and to techniques aimed at reflecting students own value systems in relation to study needs. After completing the course, students will be familiar with university and faculty conditions and will be able to reflect their expectations for future studies of their subjects.
