- Knowledge of the Bulgarian language. Absolving of the courses Old Bulgarian literature, Bulgarian literature of 19th century and Bulgarian literature of the 1st half of 20th century.

- Course objectives
- An overview of the history of Bulgarian literature after 1944. The course contains main information about the period, trends and authors, with an analysis of genres and specific works and also leads toward a knowledge of written forms of expression within the given issues. Main aims of the course are:
– to understand development of the newest Bulgarian literature
– to understand the most prominent representatives of the Bulgarian contemporary literature
– to become familiar with an essential amount of scientific literature and its methods
– to apply acquired knowledge and skills on the creation of own scientific texts. - Syllabus
- Literary life after 1944 – overall survey, dogmatism in literature.
- "The Thaw" - characteristics of the period.
- Poetry bloom taking place in sixties, its evolution within the end of eighties.
- New wave in 1960´s – psychological, historical and satiric prose. Image of Bulgarian regions in literature. Lyrical drama.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures and seminars. Seminars are based on regular reading of post-war and new Bulgarian literature and its analyses in the seminars.
- Assessment methods
- Regular attendance and home preparation on weekly basis, participation in class discussions, three short essays/summaries. Completion of the course: oral exam.
