Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge about basic social science disciplines. Subject widens student´s knowledges in various social sciences and give the opportunity to look at different concepts from multiple perspectives.

After completing the course, students will be able to understand the basic of social sciences, their main theories, concepts and methodology. They will also be able to explain the basic concepts of these disciplines. They can think of a person in terms of broader social context.
Syllabus
  • Fundamentals of pedagogy. Pedagogy as a science. Basic pedagogical categories: objective, content, form, method, subject and object of education. Objectives and content of education. Forms of education. Educational system and educational institutions. Formal and informal learning.
  • Fundamentals of multicultural education. The concept of a multicultural society. Ethnic, social and religious groups. The cultural pattern, cultural pluralism, xenophobia. The Roma minority, the concept of integration of the Roma minority in the Czech Republic.
  • Fundamentals of Adult Education. Adult education as a discipline, characteristic of the field. Adult education and lifelong learning, development of human resources. Adult person as a participant of the education. Educational needs and motivations to adult education. Adult education in the present context the issue.
  • Fundamentals of Sociology. Sociology as a science. Basic sociological theory. Social inequality, cohabitation and family. Individualization and standardization of life stories: social of belonging, education and work.
  • Fundamentals of Anthropology. Anthropology as a science. Introduction to the History of anthropological thinking. Man and Culture. Personality and culture. Kinship systems. Religion and rituals. Current trends in the biological, cultural and social anthropology.
  • Fundamentals of ethology. Ethology as a science. Objectives, methods of research, historical development. Key concepts. Definition of completely instinctive behavior and behavior resulting from the conflict of the motivation.
  • Fundamentals of Law. Basics of law, theory of law, the principles of private and public law, sources of law, basic civil rights, principles of family law, the law on special judicial proceedings.
