- Course objectives
- The aim of the module is to enable the students to further develop their communication skills in Russian, the emphasis being laid on the elimination of errors brought about by the interference of Czech and Russian in grammatical and lexical areas. The module also provides the students with the information about the Russian culture, the correction of errors when reading, and explanation and translation of original Russian texts – predominantly of the extracts of fiction and specialized texts. The module is drawn up as a confrontation of Czech and Russian. It concentrates on Russian prefixed verbs and syntactically problematic verb phrases. The phonetic exercises mostly concentrate on the vowel reduction and the correct pronunciation of Russian consonants. The communication skills both in speech and writing are tested on the given topics and lexical areas.
- Syllabus
- 1. The phonetic exercises (the first degree of reduction of the vowels “a” and “o” after the non-palatalized consonants); the aspectual opposites of the prefixed verb “bit’”, the interference of Czech and Russian in translation.
- 2. The phonetic exercises (the second degree of reduction of the vowels “a” and “o” after the non-palatalized consonants); the aspectual opposites of the prefixed verb “brať” (the style distinctions), the interference of Czech and Russian in translation.
- 3. The phonetic exercises (the reduction of the vowel “e” after the non-palatalized consonants). The lexical-semantic exercises concentrate on the explanatory semantization. The verbs “brosať” and “brosiť”. The Czech-Russian phraseology.
- 4. The phonetic exercises (the palatalized and non-palatalized labials). The verb “govoriť”. The lexical fund of the topic “The Russian folklore”.
- 5. The phonetic exercises (the acoustic distinctions between Czech and Russian dull sibilants “š” and “ž”). The verb “dať”. The constructions typical of the colloquial Russian (čto ni…, to…; gde tam… etc.).
- 6. The phonetic exercises (pronunciation of the doubled dull sibilants). The verb “dumať”. Czech-Russian phraseology. The ways of comparison in the Russian language.
- 7. The phonetic exercises (the semi-occlusive consonants). The verb “žiť”. The expression of intensity in the Russian language (the lexical, phraseological and lexical-morphological ways to express intensity in the Russian language).
- 8. The phonetic exercises (the consonant “c” in the literary language). The verb “pisať”. The semantic exercises that concentrate on polysemy.
- 9. The phonetic exercises (the consonant “č”, the words that include the spelled group “čn”). The verb “platiť”.
- 10. The phonetic exercises (the articulation of the non-palatalized “l”). The verb “pomniť”. The semantic exercises aimed at synonymy.
- 11. The phonetic exercises (distinctive acoustic features of the palatalized “ľ” differing from the Czech “l”). The semantic exercises that concentrate on interlinguistic homonymy.
- 12. The phonetic exercises (the pronunciation of the Russian vowels and consonants). The lexical fund of the topic “The fete days and the related traditions in Russia”.
