- Course objectives
- The basic concepts of epigraphy, the development of Latin letters, institutions of the Roman state; epigraphic Greek; reading and interpretation of writings, primarily, sepulchral, votive and military; basic aids and their use.
- Syllabus
- Basic terminology of epigraphy.
- Development of latin script.
- Forms of latin names.
- Institutions of the Roman state especially in the period of principat.
- Cursus honorum.
- Structure of the Roman army and the provincial-roman administration.
