- Course objectives
- The goal of this course is to review the information on Latvian language gained in the main course of Latvian (BA_LV3). In the second year of Baltic studies the communicative skills are deveoped in the first place. At the end of the course students should be able to: - improvise in Latvian in real communicative situations. - reproduce spoken text in his/her own words.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to:
communicate the given topics;
orientate himself in given grammar;
passivelly used some of participial constructions. - Syllabus
- Intonation patterns of the Latvian sentence
- Using Latvian nominal syntagma (drill)
- Using Latvian verbal syntagma (drill)
- Using participial constructions (drill)
- Teaching methods
- Lectures, class discussion, homework, reading, drill.
- Assessment methods
- Two written translations: one to the Latvian and one from the Latvian. Final exam: conversation in Latvian plus written test.
