Course objectives
The preparation for the colloquium consists in self-study of literature or handing in a shorter extract from the upcoming dissertation. In both cases the student presents the results of his/her work to the supervisor (new findings from literature and the intended method of their processing in the dissertation, a written extract from the dissertation) and discuss them with him/her.
Learning outcomes
The student learns to interpret literature and sources correctly; he/she is also trained in forms of scholarly debate.
Syllabus
  • Self-study of sources and literature. Presenting the results of the work in progress to the supervisor (new findings from literature and the intended method of their processing in the dissertation, a written extract from the dissertation).
Literature
  • Literaturu zadává vyučující v souladu se zvoleným tématem disertační práce.
  • Literature is assigned on an individual basis according to the subject of the doctoral dissertation.

Self-study, tutorial sessions, discussion
Assessment methods
Colloquium – a debate over the results of the PhD student's self-study of sources and literature, or, eventually over processing a partial problem of the dissertation.
