Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to improve student´s communication skills in English in the field of Theatre Studies; to improve his listening and reading skills and understanding of theatrological topics dealt with in English (by both native and non-native speakers); to widen his/her English theatrological vocabulary.
Syllabus
  • The instruction consists of several types of teaching activities: reading of theatrological texts followed by discussion; listening/watching videos followed by discussion; vocabulary exercises; reading of plays in English.
  • In fall 2017, the topic for our in-class analyses is set to be ANCIENT GREEK THEATRE - all materials used in the seminars will relate to it.
  • Study materials will be uploaded in ELF, not in the IS.

Assessment methods
Classwork and homework (3 credits); for 5 credits (exam) it is necessary to pass a final examination, i.e. reading a short English text dealing with a particular theatrological topic (using dictionary) followed by discussion.
