- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to explain the issue of urban culture from the ethnology point of view. Urban environment research from the point of view of related social sciences, such as sociology, demography, history and anthropology.
- Learning outcomes
- After having finished the course, the student will be able to understand the research into urban environment from the perspective of cultural history, ethnography of the present, and research into the culture of working classes; he/she will be able to describe the basic research themes and to compare modern-day researcher´s approaches and trends.

- 1. Contemporary research methods and trends, sources and literature on the topic.
- 2. Overview of cultural and historical research.
- 3. Montaneous ethnography.
- 4. Working class culture.
- 5. Overview of urban research development in the Czech Republic.
- 6. Basic works in urban ethnology in the Czech Republic.
