- Course objectives
- Introduction to the methodology and practice of historical research.
Key sources and institutions.
Basics of work with literature and sources.
Part of the system of methodological seminars and lectures focused on the systematic preparation for independent research activities and the realization of the bachelor project. - Learning outcomes
- After finishing this course, students will be able to:
Use citations and paraphrases.
Identify key industrial and archive institutions of the Czech film and audiovisual industry.
Use archive institutions and sources.
Work with electronic databases.
Carry out various filmographic, bibliographic and factographic recherches.
Understand the conditions for using audio recordings and use these as part of their own research. - Syllabus
- Individual lectures will introduce four main topics:
- - Referencing style, bibliography and paraphrasing
- - Secondary literature and electronically databases
- - Archival research
- - Oral history and audio recordings
- Students will visit National Film Archive in Prague.

- Teaching methods
- Topical lectures in the fall semester 2020 will be recorded and uploaded to the Medial system. Three live chat sessions will be held throughout the semester, discussing common mistakes and shortages.
- Assessment methods
- Students will have to do three individual tasks, checking their acquaintance with style guidelines, their ability to carry out an archival and bibliographical recherché and their ability to create their own, oral primary sources.
In order to pass students have to submit the three aforementioned tasks and to participate on three live chats sessions on MS Teams. - Language of instruction
