- Course objectives
- The main aim of the course is to create a discussion platform which enables doctoral students to share particular phases of the development of their theses and be provided with an expert feedback. Each student is supposed to create and present four presentations, one in each course (PhD Thesis Seminar I–IV), following the stage of the development of the project. In four presentations, the students should strictly stick to the following order: general project presentation (NARD37: TSI), specification of theoretical and methodological base of the project (NARD38: TSII), presentation of a sample thesis chapter (NARDIII: TSIII), presentation of the final shape of the thesis (NARDIV: TSIV).
- Learning outcomes
- After having finished the student will be able to: - structure a research project, including obligatory parts and parts specific for particular projects, their objectives and methods; - present results of various stages of development of the project; - actively participate in valuation of scholarly presentations.
- Syllabus
- Obligatory way of passing the consecutive seminars (4 stages): TSI) project: title, demarcation and definition of the research field, description of the stage of inquiry of the object, structure of thesis, consecutive stages of the development of the thesis, sources; TSII) methodological analysis of the project: methodological descriptions of the project and its parts, definition of key terms, demarcation of theoretical and historical contexts, analysis of sources; TSIII) sample chapter of the thesis; TSIV) doctoral thesis.
