Course objectives
The aim of the course is to check whether students themselves are able to understand selected passages from the Latin works which deal with philosophic or theologic themes.
Learning outcomes
The students should be able to understand the literary and historical context of the Latin works written by Boethius, Seneca, Roger Bacon, Thomas Aquinas and Peter Lombard and translate selected passages from these works (see Course Contents) into Czech language. The students are able to interpret linguistic and contentual details (especially philosophical and theological aspects) of these works.

Teaching methods
The course is not being taught in the standard form, but through the consultations during which the students solve the actual problems and answer the questions concerning the text prescribed for translation.
Assessment methods
The exam consists in translation of the chosen passages from Latin into Czech language and in ability to interpret linguistic and contentual (especially philosophical) aspects of these passages. The examination is oral, students have time for preparing the translation. The examination takes place in the examination period as well as during the semester (it is necessary to make appointment personally or by e-mail).
