- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the principles and methods of quantitative and qualitative sociological research and its application in the field of art and culture.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- understand and explain the reasons and benefits for using empirical research methods in art and culture studies;
- understand and explain the methodology and principles of empirical research;
- present reasons for using of empirical research for addressing problems in the field of art and culture;
- create a project of empirical research;
- create survey tools;
- interpret the results of empirical research;
- present the results of empirical research. - Syllabus
- 1. Social science research, its principles, methodology, qualitative and quantitative research.
- 2. Methods and techniques of empirical sociological research.
- 3. Data processing and evaluation.
- 4. Interpretation and presentation of the results of empirical research.

- Teaching methods
- Study materials are provided in the form of presentations and texts for self-study in ISU.
The core of the course consists in working in groups (3-4 students) moderated by the lecturer online and conducting your own mini-sociological research (collecting real data and processing it) and presenting its results. - Assessment methods
