- Course objectives
- In this workshop, students participate in the test phase of the course "Dutch for advanced non-native speakers" (level B2 + / C1).
The course is set up according to the principle of the "flipped classroom": in the Open edX learning environment, students follow one module every week, in which they do listening and vocabulary exercises and learn about language variation.
The knowledge acquired in this module is then practiced in class by means of interactive tasks that focus on productive skills (speaking and writing).
The purpose of this workshop is twofold. By taking the course, the students expand vocabulary and practise language skills. In addition, they provide feedback that will be processed by the developers of the course.
Students choose from two options:
Track A (3 ECTS): 12 online modules in Open edX + tasks as test person (contributing to a glossary + giving feedback per module)
Track B (5 ECTS): 12 online modules in Open edX + tasks as test person (contributing to a glossary + giving feedback per module) + writing and speaking tasks + 12 seminars - Learning outcomes
- Track A + B
Students expand their vocabulary
They learn to listen attentively to lectures on various subjects
They also learn to distinguish individual words (comprehension exercises)
They are made aware of language variation (professional jargon, differences Dutch-Dutch versus Belgian-Dutch, colloquial language versus written language, ...)
They learn to give feedback in Dutch
Track B
They improve oral skills (discussing, meeting, presenting ...)
They improve writing skills (summarizing, reporting, writing letters, ...) - Syllabus
