- Course objectives
- The main aim of the course is to introduce students to the processes of analysis of qualitative data and to earn practical ability to the analysis and interpretation of different ethnologic sources collected during the own field or archive research. The course is based on intensive seminar work. Students earn theoretical knowledge, which will practice on their own qualitative data, with which they will continuously work and discuss about them during the course. This course is linked to the course FF: ETBA07 Methods and technics of the ethnologic research. During the course, students will earn practical skills in work with the qualitative data analysis software, software for the transcription of recorded sources and visual data processing. Focus will be also taken on earning of the ability of Interpretation of the qualitative data and learning of the ability to produce professional texts based on own field research including final theses based on valid argumentation.
- Learning outcomes
- During the course, students will practice work with software Atlas.ti for textual data analysis, learn to use software for transcription of data and process a visual material.

- 1) Introduction to the course, assigning of the seminar work
- 2) Introduction to the qualitative data analysis (qda), basic analyzing instruments, three forms and phases of qualitative analysis: descripting, analysis, interpretation
- 3) Processing of qualitative data: transcription

- 6) Ethical dilemmas during the qda interpretation and professional work
- 7) Introduction to the qda software – possibilities and limitations
