- Teaching methods
- Lectures and on-line presentations.
- Assessment methods
- The course will have the form of lecture. The oral exam will consist in a discussion about studied texts.
To participate in the colloquium you need- either to pass all the "training" tests in ELF (only for your more comprehensive acquaintance with the course content, the result of the tests will not play any role in the colloquium),
- or regularly actively participate in class work (activity will be recorded).
For the discussion the students have to study in detail one of the Aristotle's texts listed below. The students have to prepare a draft that can be used during the exam. Following the model of lecture, the students have to focus on:
a) summary of contents and description of its structure,
b) its position in the context of Aristotle´s thought,
c) methodological characteristics of Aristotle´s approach,
d) explication of interesting argumentative passages.
The list of works:
- The Metaphysics III-VI,
- The Metaphysics VII-IX + XII,
- Categories + On Interpretation, + On Sophistical Refutations
- Prior Analytics,
- Posterior Analytics,
- Topics I + VI-VIII,
- Rhetoric I-II,
- Poetics + Rhetoric III.
Before the colloquium you have to test your understanding of the choosed topic in the ELF. The result will show you if you are ready for the colloquium.
The conditions for completion are the same for the full-time students as well as for the students of combined form. - Language of instruction
