Course objectives
A commented anthology of samples and analytical situation from the music history of the 1st half of 20th century. This one-semester course presents the portraits of the classics of the 20th century music (Bartók, Janáček, Stravinskij, 2nd Viennese School, neoclassicism of 1920-50s, specific personalities, jazz influences - Schulhoff, Martinů, Stravinski, Shostakovich). The base is a commented listening and analysis of chosen parts - bibliography and other information are in the form of handouts.
