Course objectives
The lecture will be devoted to the political, social, economic, and cultural development of France in the period 1944-2002.
Syllabus
  • periodization: 1) the postwar France and the birth of the Fourth Republic (1944-1947) 2) the Fourth Republic and its crisis (1947-1958) 3) de Gaulle and the origins of the Fifth Republic (1958-1969) 4) the septennial of Pompidou (1969-1974) 5) the septennial of Giscard dEstaing (1974-1981) 6) the two septennials of Mitterand (1981-1995) 7) the first septennial of Chirac (1995-2002)
