Course objectives
Projects and Grants in the Academic Study of Religions (RLB64) One of the basic prerequisities for successful research and pedagogical work of an academic researcher in religions is the ability to find financial and institutional support for this work. Fundraising for academic work is usually part of competition, where only well-prepared projects from the point of contents as well as form can win. The main aim of the course is to inform students about various grant-making agencies, foundations and other organizations whose mission is to support teaching, study and research. Grant-making shall be viewed in domestic and international context. Projects and grants in the area of the academic study of religions represent one of the cornerstones of research and pedagogical activities. This banal statement is during the course transformed into concrete fundraising case-studies that will be of practical use for students, from students grants to professional (post-doctoral and standard) grants. Through simulated, but also non-simulated examples, the students will become acquianted with various kinds of projects and grants, they will learn to draw up a project, CV etc. The course is interactive, multimeadial and focused on the use of English, the lingua franca of contemporary academic community. Teachers, postgraduate students and colleagues from other institutions are invited to participate and to demonstrate the grant-making system on their own case-studies.
